——The 10th Anniversary Activities of CEB Guangdong Branch

On March 28, Guangzhou Branch of China Everbright Bank (CEB) held the 10th Anniversary Evening and the Opening Ceremony of Everbright Hope Primary School at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. Hope Project Office of Shixing County, Shaoguan City of Guangdong Province accepted the donation of RMB460,000, and the Principal of Everbright Hope Primary School, which shall be built with the donation, accepted the name board of “Everbright Hope Primary School”. This is part of the “Gratitude to Society and Contribution to South Guangdong” activity celebrating the 10th anniversary of CEB Guangdong Branch; Mr. Zhong Yangsheng, First Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, Mr. Li Tongshu, Vice Chairman of Guangzhou Provincial CPPCC, Mr. Guo You, President of China Everbright Bank, Mr. Wu Yimin, Member of the Standing CCP Committee and First Vice Mayor of Guangzhou, Mr. Kong Shaoqiong, Member of Standing Party Committee and Chief of Guangzhou United Front Department, leaders from the provincial and municipal governments and Guangdong Office of China Banking Regulatory Commission, more than 3,000 guests invited by CEB, and employees of CEB Guangzhou Branch were present at the evening and donation ceremony.

The RMB 460,000 donation depicts the heartfelt contribution of employees of CEB Guangzhou Branch to the society and the unselfish assistance to people in north Guangdong. On the eve of the 10th anniversary, Guangdong Branch organized a series of celebration activities under the theme of “Gratitude to Society and Contribution to South Guangdong”. It built a Hope Primary School in the mountainous area of north Guangdong, planted the CEB forest on Baiyun Mountain and promoted publicity and field services in urban area. The advocation of building a school for children in the poverty-stricken areas was welcomed by all employees of the Branch, and pushed the donation themed on “Sharing Sunshine, Joint Hand with Hope” to a climax. Though RMB200,000 is already enough to build a Hope School in north Guangdong; employees of CEB Guangzhou Branch donated RMB466,666 in total. Hearing the activity, employees’ family members also actively participated into the donation; and the children donated their pocket money to children in distant places. In order to express the love of employees, Mingda Primary School in Shixing County, Shaoguan City, was finally selected to accept the donation upon communication with the Hope Project Office of Guangdong. Mingda Primary School, established in 1908 with a fairly long history, has shabby buildings and simple and crude teaching environment due to backward local economy. The Branch organized the Labor Union, League Committee, employee representatives, family members and children of employees to visit children there, who decided to provide assistance to children of poor families. The Branch invested all the RMB466,666 donation to the School, and expressed the considerate love of CEB employees to people in the mountainous north Guangdong, of which RMB250,000 will be used to maintain and renovate Mingda Primary School; RMB100,000 will be used to grant awards and stipends to students in the school and the rest RMB100,000 will be used to renovate Huwan Primary School in Shixing County. To express thanks to China Everbright Bank, Mingda Primary School was renamed as Everbright Hope Primary School, and Guangzhou Branch designated the school as a permanent assistance liaison office of it and an education base for branch employees. Employees of the Branch establishes assistance partnership with children in poor families; and the League Committee of Guangzhou Branch launched a “Red Chalk Program” and organized the outstanding young employees to teach in the Hope School during vacations, reward the society and express love to the Hope School, contributing to the construction of a harmonious society.

Mr. Zhang Hongliang, person in charge of CEB Guangzhou Branch, spoke at the ceremony that, Guangzhou Branch will earnestly fulfill its social responsibility and devote efforts to promote the prudent and sustainable development of the branch, with a view to reward Guangdong and the society.

In 2001, It pressingly pushed ahead the medical insurance reform, and obtained the qualification as a major issuer of medical insurance card in Guangzhou; till now, it has issued nearly 2 million Everbright Sunshine medical insurance cards. In 2004, it took the initiative to launch domestic and foreign currency wealth management business in Guangzhou; and in 2006, it won the bid for the provincial fiscal financial payment service for the Financial Bureau of Guangdong Province, and became the only joint-stock commercial bank to conduct provincial fiscal financial direct expenditure in Guangdong. In 2006, Guangzhou Branch ranked top in the annual comprehensive assessment, and was elected the Annual Advanced Institution by the Head Office and granted the title of Advanced Ideology Institution in China’s Financial System in recognition of its outstanding business performance.
